We’re well into the holiday season! Maybe you took advantage of all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday/Week deals, and you are all set for gift giving. Kudos to you! If not though, and you are still in search of the perfect gift, we’ve got you covered with plenty of ideas and deals for your outdoor and adventure loving people.
Late last week, I was out shopping for pajamas for my family. An annual tradition that I absolutely adore, but also seems to always take longer than I anticipate. Over the loudspeaker, on repeat, the announcer would ask, “Shopping for last minute gifts?”, and continued on about how I was in the right place. LAST minute gifts? On December 1st? Is it just me, or are we constantly being made to feel like we are behind?
For the record, I’m here to say: Who cares what the big box store loudspeaker says? You are not behind. Take your time, and enjoy this precious season with your family.
On that note, I want to help! So that you don’t have to go searching, here are some of the best deals I’ve found, this week, for outdoor and adventure loving families.
- Kids Wool Socks: Our daughter had a set of these wool blend socks, and they lasted many years from late toddlerhood, well into her early elementary school years. Of course, our favorite wool socks will always be from Ella’s Wool (though those are not currently on sale).
- Woolly Clothing Sale: Speaking of wool, Woolly has several styles on major discount. I personally have, and absolutely love their cropped hoodie, and it’s $20 off right now! Woolly also has FREE SHIPPING always!
- Give the gift of adventure or travel! We are all about experience gifts in our family, and I recently found out that Expedia has a special deals page. Search for lodging, flights, cars, things to do, or a combination.
- Botanical Interests Garden Calendar: This inspirational garden calendar is just $9.99, and makes such a great gift. I can’t get enough of Botanical Interests’ gorgeous illustrations, and with this calendar, they can be enjoyed all year long! Plus, I just found out that Botanical Interests is offering FREE SHIPPING on all orders placed by 12/12! Seed Sets are also an excellent gift option.
- Boots from XtraTuf: There are many fun and practical styles on sale right now. My favorite option at the moment are XtraTuf’s ankle boots. I was able to snag a pair at REI last month, and I am finding them so handy for our rainy Seattle area weather. Easy to slip on, but sturdy and comfortable enough to walk far distances.
- Muck Boots for Kids: 100% waterproof, light weight, and can be rolled up and down, these Forager Boots are perfect for the outdoorsy kid.
- While the “Cyber Deals” have subsided, at least for now, REI’s clearance, outlet, and sale area remains, where there are many gifts at up to 50% discount. And while we are on the subject of boots, REI’s deals on Kamik boots stood out to me.
- Light-up Gloves: You may have caught our recent blog post featuring “Night Walking Safety Tips“. I didn’t mention these gloves in the post, but they would be such a fun AND practical addition to any nighttime excursion. Our son had them years ago, and they proved to be a great motivator in getting outside in the dreaded dark days of winter.
- Portable Speaker: My husband in particular loves to bring tunes along when we travel. We’ve had our JBL portable speaker for years, and recommend the product for its sound quality, packability, and reasonable price.
- Stomp Rocket: To round out this outdoor adventure loving gift guide, I wanted to make sure to include something playful. Our kids could play with the stomp rocket for hours, and at just under $20 (currently marked down), that is well worth the investment! Many times, it’s been the motivation they need to get out the door. We’ve also found that it’s attracts other kids, which means more cooperative play, and possibly the spark of a new friendship!
May your days be merry, bright, and full of good deals!

Hi-
On an earlier post about snohomish county, there is a picture of an illustrated map of the area; could you tell me where that is located?

Hi there! It’s been quite some time since our visit, but the map was from the children’s museum in Everett. Not sure if it’s still there, but I’m sure you could call, and ask!
