When we went to sleep last Friday night, there was a light dusting of snow on the ground. When we woke up, over half a foot had fallen! And snow was still coming down. Here in Seattle, that’s a big deal.
Of course the kids wanted to go sledding, so we turned our usual Saturday morning walk into a snowy adventure. The sledding combined with all the other activities we smashed into our schedule amounted to a pretty fantastic day.
Here are the basics of our epic snow day:
- Search for the perfect sledding hill. Trickier than we thought, since our Seattle snow is pretty heavy and wet…and someone may have ended up in the lake.
- Find some delicious baked goods. Valentines Day donuts from Madison Park Bakery.
- Once home, play some more. Also shovel since several more inches fell while we were on our walk.
- Bake homemade cookie bars. I guess the donuts weren’t enough!
- Enjoy some hot chocolate, cozy up, and watch a movie as a family. We chose Over the Moon. It’s up for a Golden Globe Award for best animated film.
