Hello from the happiest place on earth! We are in the midst of spring break at Disneyland, and loving every minute of it! Well, almost every minute.
University of Washington Cherry Blossoms (Video) + Why We Love Family Bike Rides!
We are back with another fun family bike ride to share! One of the many ways Seattle celebrates spring is with the cherry blossoms. As I talked about in our spring bucket list, one of the most fantastic displays is in the quad on the Univeristy of Washington campus. We decided to hop on the bikes on a week day afternoon to catch a glimpse of the beautiful blooms. While we didn’t get to see the display at peak, that was a-okay with us. A week day, and non-peak means less crowds!
With our cherry blossom report, I also wanted to back up, and share all the reasons why we love bike riding in the first place. There are so many benefits to bike riding. Because of this, I’m really motivated to incorporate the activity even more into our everyday lives.
4 Reasons Why We Empty our Refrigerator Before Travel
Do you have routines you go through in your home before leaving town? One of the things we do before heading out for longer than a weekend is emptying our refrigerator. Throughout the week leading up to our travels, we work to use what we have, and clear out the shelves as much as possible.
While the refrigerator will not be completely empty, it’s pretty darn close. Anything left is most definitely not perishable. Of course we don’t follow the same regiment for our freezer, you’ll see later in the post that we are intentional with what we store in that space. Wondering why we go through all this trouble?

- Book of the Week: Run Wild by David Covell. Georgia received this book for Christmas this past year, and I can’t believe I haven’t shared it yet! In essence, it’s a playful story sharing the joy of nature. We’ve read it many times, and Georgia even shared it with her forest school class. But I JUST noticed something new upon reading it tonight. The boy sitting on the couch being encouraged to go outside at the beginning of the story is actually looking at some sort of screen (phone or tablet). I love this tie-in to our modern day struggles.

Gear for Adventurous Families: Outdoor Kids Exploration Kit
Our 4-year old Georgia has been watching Bergen (her 7-year old brother), and I explore with Think Outside Boxes since the fall. Since the subscription service is geared toward kids 7+, she’s been a little out of the loop.
Then we were introduced to the Outdoor Kids Exploration Kit from Imagilane! While Imagilane is not a subscription service, it is a box full of fun gear that encourages kids 3+ to get outside and explore. As soon as we unwrapped the box from it’s packaging, Georgia started playing.
She took a more imaginative play approach, setting her baby doll up along side her as she described each item. In no time, she was outside in our backyard getting a closer look at a fly, and watching birds come and snack from our feeders.
