We are back with another fun family bike ride to share! One of the many ways Seattle celebrates spring is with the cherry blossoms. As I talked about in our spring bucket list, one of the most fantastic displays is in the quad on the Univeristy of Washington campus. We decided to hop on the bikes on a week day afternoon to catch a glimpse of the beautiful blooms. While we didn’t get to see the display at peak, that was a-okay with us. A week day, and non-peak means less crowds!
With our cherry blossom report, I also wanted to back up, and share all the reasons why we love bike riding in the first place. There are so many benefits to bike riding. Because of this, I’m really motivated to incorporate the activity even more into our everyday lives.
In the following video, you’ll find out why we love family bike rides, and come along with us as we experience the cherry blossoms on the University of Washington’s campus! See below for notes on the video, and make sure to like, comment & subscribe!
Why We Love Family Bike Rides
-
Convenient Transportation
How fun is it to arrive at a destination, and not have to worry about parking the car? When the stars align with good weather, a reasonable distance to travel for an event, and a safe route, I love taking the bikes over driving. If we’d driven, in the time it took to ride our bikes, we’d probably still be dealing with parking the car (and paying), and then walking to the location of the cherry blossoms. One the bikes, we just ride right into the action!
-
Exercise
Bike riding is such a fun and exhilarating way to move our bodies. I love how with our varied terrain, there are times when we get to work really hard (uphill), and then times when we are rewarded and just get to coast (downhill).
-
Scenery
Bike riding is such a lovely way of taking in the beauty of our city. Since we aren’t speeding along, we have more time to take it all in.
-
Environmentally Friendly
Not using any gas to get to the places we want to go is just another reason for us to feel good about riding instead of driving. We are also reducing congestion on our roads.
-
Free
Aside from making sure our bikes are in good shape, riding is a no coast mode of transportation. No need to buy gas, bus or light rail tickets, or pay for parking!
We’d love to know why you love bike riding, and if it’s not something you do, what’s holding you back?
