I’ve saved the best for last with this year’s gift guides! Today I’m sharing 8 gift ideas for the travel and outdoor loving mom in your life! In this gift guide for moms, you’ll find ideas to make travel and getting outdoors easier, items that will inspire, and items that will help mom plan an amazing year of adventure. Many can be purchased last minute, so if you are just getting around to buying gifts, you’re in luck!
Gifts for the Travel and Outdoor Loving Mom
1. Boots
Just like I mentioned in our kids guide, a pair of good boots is essential for anyone getting outside this winter (and beyond), especially those adventuring alongside kids! I’m currently loving these ankle boots from Oakiwear, and I’m super impressed with the hiking boots from Hi-Tec (review here).
2. Planner
A lot goes into creating an adventurous life full of outdoor fun and travel! A paper planner can help mom stay organized, set goals, write to-do lists, and keep track of all the important dates in her life. There are tons of planners out there, but my favorite paper planner is the Get to Work Book. It kept me organized in 2016, and I’m looking forward to starting fresh with a new one in 2017! You’ll also be supporting a small business operated by an amazing mom of 2.
3. Adventure Gear
Georgia received a hoodie from El Sage Designs for her birthday. The graphic on the front corner, and back read: “Adventure is a Family Value”. Perfect for our little toddler, but also perfect for the adventurous mama. El Sage has t-shirts, adult hoodies, hats, and more to outfit the mom in your life. If you live in Western Washington, they have a shop in Mount Vernon. Otherwise, you can shop in their online store!
4. Coloring Book
Several years ago, Slaed picked up this Seattle Coloring Book for me, and I absolutely adore it! It features scenes from all over Seattle expertly drawn by Laura Lahm. I loved it so much that for a while I couldn’t bear to color in it for fear that I’d mess it up. Luckily, I got over that, and now can enjoy coloring alongside Bergen. Laura also has a Portland and Tokyo version, and I’ve seen a similar Pacific Northwest Coloring Book in some of our local shops.
5. Inspiring Bracelets
My friend and fellow blogger, Joy, just opened the Find Joy Shop on Etsy, and I’m so impressed with her creations! She sent me a few of her charm bracelets, and I now wear them everyday as a reminder to “find joy” in the ordinary, day-to-day moments. In addition to bracelets, she also makes reclaimed wood signs that would be a great addition to any home’s decor.
6. Portable Charger
Portable chargers really come in handy for long travel days, and outdoor excursions. I take tons of photos and video with my phone on our adventures. All that documentation drains the battery, and we’re often away from a power source. The MyCharge Razor Max is light weight, and allows me to charge two devices at once!
7. Parks Pass
An annual parks pass is a gift that will last all year long! Your recipient will never have to worry about entry fees to her favorite parks, and she’ll likely be more motivated to get outside with the kids! Washington residents can purchase the Washington State Parks Pass (Discover Pass, just $30!) from REI, or for other states, just search your state parks website. There are also passes to regional parks, and of course, National Parks!
8. Travel Mug
I received this insulated travel mug from Avex via a giveaway last year, and I’m SO impressed with it’s ability to keep drinks warm. Sometimes I even have to leave the lid off for a bit since it works so well. Especially in the colder (and rainy) months, warm drinks on hikes and other outdoor adventures are such a treat, and really lift spirits!
